Dinamo Zagreb Football
Dinamo Zagreb is a large and successful club from Croatia, based in the Croatian capital city, founded in 1945. Although the team is very powerful on the domestic level, it has not matured enough to be considered a power in European football, losing most matches in the Champions League 3rd qualifying round by a large aggregate against European super-clubs Milan, Arsenal, Werder Bremen and Dynamo Kyiv. The team had a relative success this year when it managed to reach the group stage of UEFA Cup after knocking out tie-favourites Ajax Amsterdam.
On a domestic level, it is a totally different story. Dinamo Zagreb are one of the most successful Croatian club, and are currently Croatian Champions for the third season in a row since 2006. They have been crowned Yugoslav Champions 4 times, won the Croatian League (after the separation of the Yugoslavian states) 10 times, and the Cup on eight occasions. These honours speak for themselves. Dinamo Zagreb play their home games in 39000-capacity Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb.
Their current captain Luka Modric is being scouted by huge European clubs across Europe but it is very unlikely that the Zagreb club would let him go for a cheap price. Arsenal are one of the teams that are reported to hold an interest in the player, but Wenger was momentarily put off by the demands of Dinamo Zagreb.
