Derby County Football
The Rams, as Derby County Football Club are nicknamed play at the 33,597 capacity Pride Park Stadium in Derbyshire. The club moved to this purpose built stadium in 1997 after over 100 years at The Baseball Ground.
Founded in 1884 as part of Derbyshire County Cricket Club the football association said that name would be too long, so Derby County was used. The team were founder members of The Football League when it started in 1888. It wasn't until 1946 that Derby won their first major trophy, beating Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup Final 4-1 aet, Derby had lost on their four previous FA Cup Final appearances.
Under Brian Clough Derby won the league championship in 1972 and made the semi finals of the European Cup the following year. In 1975 they won the league again, with Dave Mackay at the helm.
Derby's home shirts are white, with black shorts and white socks, away from home the kit is blue shirts with yellow on the sleeves, yellow shorts and black socks.
