Derby County currently play in League One. They last played in the Premier League in the 2007/08 season, where they broke the record for the lowest amount of points with just 11. Nicknamed the ‘Rams’, Derby Country wear white shirts with black shorts which was first seen in the late 19th century. Derby County Home 2022/23 KitThe Rams’ 2022/23 Umbro home featured an bitmap striping covering the lower left hand-side of the shirt, breaking away from the traditional clear body design of the previous home shirts. The jersey was still predominantly white, however, and all the elements of the shirt not carrying the primary colour were accented by black. This included the above mentioned graphic, logos, back part of the sleeve cuffs and the side panels flanking the neckline.

The angled edges of the said panels contained flashes of dark blue, inspired by the 1971/72 First Division-winning squad who changed to white shirts and blue shorts (as instructed by Manager Brian Clough) to match the colours of the England side at that time. The white round collar got interrupted with a revealing black v-shaped liner.

Pressing against a lighter, greenish base, the pattern on the sleeves were made visible, intended to represent the intricate structure of the Pride Park Stadium. The application of the said visual design involved some level of bitmap aesthetics to produce some motion effect.

Derby County Away 2021/22 KitDerby County constructed their 2021/22 Umbro away shirt with a turquoise body and cuffs, blue sleeves, and a white stylised collar with a raised side profile. Another white detail was the border between the sleeves and the cuffs. Finishing the look was the abstract geometrical pattern revealed through the varying intensities of the base colour of the body.

 

 

The Rams, as Derby County Football Club are nicknamed play at the 33,597 capacity Pride Park Stadium in Derbyshire. The club moved to this purpose built stadium in 1997 after over 100 years at The Baseball Ground.

Founded in 1884 as part of Derbyshire County Cricket Club the football association said that name would be too long, so Derby County was used. The team were founder members of The Football League when it started in 1888. It wasn’t until 1946 that Derby won their first major trophy, beating Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup Final 4-1 aet, Derby had lost on their four previous FA Cup Final appearances.

Under Brian Clough Derby won the league championship in 1972 and made the semi finals of the European Cup the following year. In 1975 they won the league again, with Dave Mackay at the helm.
