David Villa Sanchez was born on the 3rd December 1981 in Tuilla which is in the Langreo area of Asturias, a region in Northern Spain. He is a Spanish football player, who currently plays for Atletico Madrid and the Spanish national side. The Spanish striker is arguably one of the best Spanish players of all time having had successful club spells at Valenica, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
El Guaje (The Kid) as he is nicknamed, started his career in 1999 at his local club Sporting de Gijon, making his first team debut in the 2000-01 season. The next season he was a first team regular, scoring 18 league goals, he continued this over the next couple of seasons and drew the attention of the coaches at Zaragoza who bought him in the summer of 2003, when they gained promotion to La Liga. He soon settled in and scored 17 times in his first season at Zaragoza. Villa led Zaragoza to a Copa del Rey victory scoring the winning goal against Real Madrid.
2005 was a big year as he gained his first International cap and was bought by Valencia for £8.2 million , he continued his rich vein of scoring with 25 goals in his first season one behind the La Liga record. He has also scored at the rate of almost a goal a game during his Internationals.
