Costa Rica Football
Costa Rica play in the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying group they are nicknamed Los Ticos and have qualified for four world cups, once progressing to the knockout stages. The Costa Rican's have never won the CONCACAF Gold Cup, but did finish runners up in 2002, they have also played in the Copa America, making the quarterfinals on their last two occassions.
Costa Rica's most capped player is Luis Marin (116 caps) and their top scorer is the well known Paulo Wanchope who has 43 international goals. They played their first international against El Salvador in 1921 winning seven nil. Their biggest win was a 12-0 thrashing of Puerto Rico in 1946. Mexico have twice put seven past them without reply for their heaviest defeats. Costa Rica play in home shirts of red with blue shorts and white socks, the away kit is a white shirt with blue shorts and red socks.
