James Lee Duncan Carragher was born on the 28th January 1978 in Bootle, Merseyside. He is an English international footballer permanently playing his club football at Liverpool where he became vice-captain, behind team-mate and fellow Liverpudlian Steven Gerrard. On Saturday 20th January 2007 Jamie Carragher played in his 450th game for Liverpool (in all competitions) and was offered a testimonial by the club to commemorate 10 years of service.
His determination and attitude on the pitch, his humble nature off it and his professionalism has gone a long way to making him a great to the Liverpool faithful, and he was voted 7th in liverpoolfc.tv's 100 Players Who Shook The Kop, the highest placed defender on the list.
Carragher made 27 appearances for the England U21 side between 1996 and 2000, scoring one goal. He also played for England B 3 times between 1998 and 2000, gaining his full International honours in 1999 and has since been a regular in the England squad.
