Carlisle United Football
Carlisle United FC were founded in 1903 through the merging of Shaddongate United and Carlisle Red Rose they are based in Cumbria, in the North of England making away games a long haul for the team. Carlisle play their home games in the 16,660 capacity Brunton Park Stadium in Carlisle, Cumbria.
The blues as they are known play their home games in a kit of blue shirts with red sleeves, white shorts and blue socks. The away strip is all red. The Carisle shirt has been worn by some famous names in the game such as Peter Beardsley (1979-82) who once set a record transfer fee in the game and represented his country 59 times, Stan Bowles (1971-72) the fiery midfielder who was at QPR when they were at the top of their game. The other name we cannot miss is Bill Shankly who played 16 games in season 1931/32 before moving to Preston North End, Bill also cut his teeth in Management with Carlisle 1949-51 before later moving on to greatness at Liverpool.
