The Bulgaria national football team played their first international against Austria in Vienna, Austria on the 21st May 1924 losing 6 - 0, Bulgaria play their international home games in Sofia.

Bulgaria play their home games wearing white shirts, green shorts and white socks with an away strip of red shirts, whites shorts and green socks. Their best World Cup performance was in the 1994 World Cup, where they beat Germany to reach the semi-finals, where the lost to Italy, but achievied a highly credible and unexpected fourth place.
