Bristol Rovers Football
Bristol Rovers were formed in 1883 as The Black Arabs and they were renamed Bristol Rovers in 1899 after briefly being called Eastville Rovers and Bristol Eastville Rovers. The club joined the Southern League in 1899, and were founder members of the Football League Third Division in 1920. They play their home games in the 11,916 capacity Memorial Stadium in Horfield, Bristol.
Nicknamed The Pirates thanks to the maritime history of Bristol, they wear blue and white quartered shirts, white shorts and blue socks. The away strip is dark blue with yellow under arms and down the sides. A couple of top players who have pulled on the Rovers shirt are Gary Mabbutt who started his career at the club and Bobby Zamora who joined from West Ham's youth ranks briefly.
