Khalid Boulahrouz, the Chelsea defender was born on the 28th December 1981 in Maassluis, Netherlands.
He started his professional football career for RKC Waalwijk on March 9th 2002 against SC Heerenveen in the Dutch league. Khalid played two seasons in Holland before transfering to German side Hamburger SV in 2004. Boulahrouz played in the German Bundesliga until Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho decided he wanted him in 2006.
He subsequently joined the London club for £8.5million and manager Mourinho stated he had wanted Boulahrouz for his versatility in a number of positions in the side.
Khalid Boulahrouz wears the number 9 Chelsea shirt, normally given to strikers in Premiership sides, but as it was one of the few lower numbers available at the time he was allocated it after the departure of previous number nine, Herman Crespo. Khalid made his debut in the Chelsea shirt on the 21st August 2006 against Blackburn Rovers.
