Athletic Bilbao Football
From Bilbao in Basque Country, Spain, Athletic Club Bilbao were founder members of Spain's La Liga and have played in the top flight of Spanish football since. Athletic were founded in 1898 and only they and Barcelona & Real Madrid have never been relegated from La Liga.
Being from the Basque region of Spain the club has a policy of bringing young Basque players through the ranks and only signing players native to one of the seven Basque provinces.
Bilbao are known to thier fans as Los leones (because their stadium was built near a church called San Mames) and the Zurigorri or Rojiblancos because of their red & white striped shirts.
