Welsh international striker Craig Bellamy was born in Cardiff on the 13th July 1979, the pacey footballer currently plys his trade at Liverpool, mainly in the role of striker. Bellamy made his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt at the start of the 2006/07 after moving from fellow Premiership side Blackburn Rovers. Blackburn had bought Bellamy from Newcastle after he had fallen out with the geordie club and management (in between Bellamy had a sucessful spell on loan at Celtic).
Prior to playing at St James Park, Bellamy was at Coventry City who had bought him for £6.5 million from Norwich City where he started his career in their youth system. Where ever he has played Craig has been out sprinting defences and ruffling feathers here and there. His performances have not been unnoticed and he has represent his country on numberous occasions pulling on the Welsh shirt with pride.
Things started well with the toon for Bellamy, forging an impressive partnership with legend Alan Shearer and in 2002 Bellamy was named the PFA Young Player of the Year.
Bellamy is most famous for his public disagreements with then Newcastle manager Graeme Souness, a decent loan spell with Celtic (where he won the Scottish FA Cup) earnt him a move back to the Premiership with Blackburn Rovers whom he helped propel to 6th in the league table and European football, his reward was a dream move to Liverpool the club he had supported as a boy.
