Belarus played their first match as a national team against Lithuania in Vilnius on 20th June 1992. This came after the breakup if of the Soviet Union, before then the players had represented USSR at international level. The play their home fixtures at the Dinamo Stadium in Minsk.
Famous players to wear the Belarus shirt include Valentin Belkevich, Sergei Aleinikov, Vitali Kutuzov, Sergei Gurenko and current Arsenal midfielder Aliaksandr Hleb. That Belarus shirt is red for home games and they wear that with green shorts and red socks. The away strip of Belarus is all white (shirt, shorts & socks).
