Arsenal wear red shirts with white sleeves adorned by a distinctive cannon badge, a legacy from their origins and a link to the Woolwich Arsenal. Arsenal 23/24 Home Kit

This year’s red shade on the Gunners’ home kit was officially labelled ‘Better Scarlet.’ In comparison to previous red colours used, Better Scarlet had that fuller, richer effect, though the difference from past red shades was not that noticeable at first glance. As far as accent goes, a newly-created ‘Wonder Gold’ formed part of this white raglan-sleeved, red bodied kit. Wonder Gold, making its first appearance in any adidas product ever, had a metallic output that coloured the crest and the adidas performance logo, as well as the shoulder stripes. Having the logos in gold brought back memories of the iconic 2005-2006 Highbury kit. Lastly, tonal zap pinstripes flowed down the body of the shirt. Both the sleeve cuffs and collar were red, but the former had gold bordering above while the latter had white piping.

The main feature of the Arsenal home shirt for the season was the white polo collar with a singular red zigzag striping running along the edge. 2021/22 Arsenal Home Shirt

Arsenal Home 2021/22 KitFor football season 2021/22, the Gunners were identified with a home shirt that had white sleeves and side panels to a scarlet red body. The look was reminiscent of the team’s home shirts in the early 2000s, departing from recent trends of having only the sleeves in white. Produced by adidas, the shirt had the trademark three horizontal stripes on each shoulder and the Condivo 21 v-collar and neckline. For the first time, the stripes go in navy, which was the same colour used for the pipings on the red collar and sleeve cuffs.

2020/21 Arsenal Home Shirt

Arsenal Home 2020/21 KitThe 2020/21 Gunners home kit saw the Arsenal players covered in their usual colours, with the sleeves going white and the main body being red. However, the kit also employed modern applications as kit maker adidas incorporated a unique graphic pattern that looked like interconnected triangular pointed arrows with varying shades of red. The sleeves, which were similar to the German shirt and the Juventus kit, saw its white colour extended to the upper back. The kit used a white crew neck collar and also featured high white cuffs with red and maroon piping. Three white stripes ran down on each side of the shirt, and a white stylized canon print was printed on the side just below the back side’s neckline.

Arsenal, who assumed the name of the nearby South London armaments depot, Woolwich Arsenal, and hence gained the nickname the Gunners, were formed in 1886. They were also once known as Dial Square football when they adopted the sponsors name.

The team initially started out with a red home shirt and white shorts which is a trend that remains today. The one major change that has occurred is that since 1933, the sleeves have been coloured white providing a nice contrast on the home shirt.

Starting in 1986/87 season, Arsenal introduced a commercial sponsor logo to their playing shirts, with the first one in their kit history being the company JVC. Arguably Arsenal’s most iconic home shirt was the shirt used in 2005 to honour the last season at the iconic Highbury stadium. As the club’s success has seen them outgrow their Highbury ground, the club now plays inside the Emirates Stadium.

Thierry Henry holds the record for the most goals whilst wearing a gunners shirt, having taken the record in 2005 from Arsenal fans favourite Ian Wright. Other famous players to pull on the kit include; Charlie George, David Seaman, Paul Merson, Mesut Ozil, Robin Van Persie, Mikel Arteta, and Tony Adams. Today’s stars include Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.
