Andrew Johnson was born in Bedford on the 10th February 1981, he is a professional English footballer who plays for Everton in the Premiership and the England national team as a striker. His previous clubs were Birmingham City and Crystal Palace.
Johnson is one of the smaller strikers in the Premier League and certainly in his early days it held him back. He was unfortunate enough to miss the deciding penalty against Liverpool in the 2001 Worthington Cup Final shootout, which Birmingham City lost. The following year in 2002, the club sold him to Crystal Palace as part of a transfer deal for Clinton Morrison.
Crystal Palace proved to be the making of Andy Johnson and although the club gained promotion in 2004/5 from the playoffs into the Premier League and went straight back down, but Johnson was the Premier League top scorer. That season saw Johnson make his full England debut against the Netherlands on 9th February 2005. He did not get a competitive start however, until the 2008 qualifier against Israel.
Johnson joined Everton in 2006, after Crystal Palace had failed to return to the top flight. He has quickly become an important club striker and has a very good record of 35 appearances and 12 goals in an Everton shirt, up to the end of the 2007 season.
